86 Days
I'm so glad I got up this morning and went walking, it's HOT outside and it was 7am! I can't imagine what it's going to be like this afternoon! Short post 'cause I've got to get to work and no pic because my camera's battery is out of juice. Still trucking along, trying to work on my eating now to help me lose weight before the walk, a side benefit to doing this. Walk was good this morning but just hazy, hot and humid :-) the triple "H" factor! Stay cool and talk to you tomorrow!

87 Days
I just have to keep pushing myself out of bed in the morning to get and go walking. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this, last year it was much better at this time. Maybe it's because of this massive heat wave we are having or that I've been having a really hard time getting to bed at a decent hour, my brain just won't shut down! But I did, I'm back in the mode! I've just decided that whatever time I get up in the morning I'm not going to use that as an excuse not to walk! So I got up, got dressed and walked out the door. Boy is it HOT, and it was only 7am in the morning. I like it though because I sweat and when I sweat I feel like I'm doing something. Well I'm keeping this short because I've got to get ready and get my butt to work!

Day 94
OMG is it HOT!!!!!!! Took a break on the training to let the blisters heal (I believe I started off too fast) So today I was going to walk in the early morning because of the Heat Wave we are experiencing here in Missouri or as my niece and her friends call it "Misery" but I didn't get too much sleep the night before so the snooze button was hit a few too many times. So I went to work and had probably the worst day I've had in quite some time! I was in at around 8:30am and left at about 7:10pm (tells you somewhat how my day went) and as I was driving home I'm thinking I've got to get some miles in, I've got to get some miles in and the other half of me was saying go get some dinner, go home and veg out! Well the better half of me won and I came home, fed and shot the cat (our kitty Sara is diabetic and she gets a shot twice a day) made sure she was done and then I put my walking close on and went walking...........40 min later I was in my nice air conditioned house (please power don't go out) and I felt much better! So with that I'm going to have a bowl of cereal and watch the news and go to bed! Until tomorrow.............

98 Days
Well I was a little sore this morning, I think my back was sore because of the swinging from the driving range and my feet because the blisters are still there! As much as I wanted to keep pushing the snooze button this morning I got up after the 3rd hit and got myself ready. This morning was a little different, I had to do a little first aid to my feet which helped on one foot and not so much on the other. But the key thing here is that I walked this morning so I'm somewhat on a streak here! I will keep walking so that I am able to walk the whole 60miles in November. The driving range was fun! It gave Mark and I a chance to do something together and hopefully it will lead to more nights at the driving range and maybe even a game of golf here and there.
Well I know this is short but I'm going to fix myself some breakfast, hit the shower and head to work!

99 Days
This morning there are blisters on my feet! They are little swollen but hopefully by doing my cross training (weights and driving range) it'll give them a rest to walk again tomorrow. The biggest challenge I think I'm facing this walk is not the walk it's self or the blisters or the soreness it is the people who think I'm not going to walk this year! If you've read my story you know that I was supposed to walk last year, but the day before I was to leave I got a very nasty case of the flu. So bad I really don't remember driving myself home the day I almost threw up in my office. I'm sure some people are saying it in jest, and trust me I've thrown my own "jest" around myself, but as I get closer to the walk what I need is people telling me I can do it instead of letting me know they are doubting that I can do it. Well I'm off to work, my workout will be this evening when, hopefully, the weather will have cooled down! HA HA, it's August in Missouri - yeah right! Until tomorrow........................

Day 100
Today it is 100 days until the walk in San Diego! This morning I got up and realized I really need to get my butt in gear and start walking! I have done a training walk with others that are participating in the The 3 Day and I've walked here and there when time and weather permits but this is serious now!
So today I got up at 6am, well really 5:30am when my alarm went off and then again 9 min later and then again another 9min later and then when my cat Chuck started scratching at the bathroom door! Anyway, I got dressed and I was on the road at 6:11am. It's supposed to be HOT HOT HOT this week so I wanted to get started before the heat was on! I walked 4 miles, even though my training schedule said to do 3 miles, but I know what 4 miles is on my route so I figured what's an extra mile! It wasn't too bad, my dogs are barking a little bit but not anything body glide or these really cool things you put on your feet where you have the most friction, these tools I believe are going to be my saving grace for this walk!
I love walking in the early morning. It's peaceful, the birds are up and chirping looking for their morning breakfast, the bunnies are hopping around eating the dew covered grass. There's no phones (with the exception of my cell phone "just in case of an emergency"), no TV, no one other than me and the road and the birds and the bunnies. I'm lucky where I live, about 2 miles of my walk are within where I live so not too much traffic, the other 2 miles is out on a main road with lots of hills and challenges so it makes it for a nice training loop.
So I was on the road at 6:11am and I got back to my house at 7:15am, not too bad. Tomorrow calls for cross training, so I'm going to go through my exercise DVD's and see what I can find!
Well that's it for now, I'll write tomorrow after my workout.
Take care!

18 weeks until the walk! I just got my Personal Trainer reminder email! So far the longest I've walked is about 6 miles! Which is about right in line with the training schedule. Walking 20 miles a day scares me but I know I can do it if I just keep walking daily and follow the training schedule. My feet are holding up, YEAH! I found some stuff that helps me from getting blisters which is a good thing because I was starting to get worried!
I'll be sending out my fundraising letters this week, hopefully the fundraising will go good! As you see I somewhat started it with putting my scrapbook for sale on this site. I have been blessed with some really great friends that helped me with the book.
I attended an official training walk a couple of weeks ago. It helped meeting other people who are participating in the walk. The majority of them are doing the San Diego, like I am, but I ended up walking with Katie and Shannon who are walking in Chicago which is in August. Very nice people and it was good to talk to them because they both had walked in 3 Day Walks previously so I was trying to get as much information out of them as possible.
Well I'm off to get ready for work this week and put my walking gear out for training this week. I'll start posting pictures of my walks, I'm putting together a scrapbook for myself that I started with last year's walk.
Keep in touch believe me a little encouragement goes a long way!

My First Post!
I'm new to the blog world so be patient and understanding :-)
I have started this blog site to help raise awareness of breast cancer, keep my donors up to date on my fundraising efforts/training and to help sell my breast cancer scrapbook to help raise funds.
You're probably wondering what I'm talking about? Last year I signed up to walk in the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk in San Diego, CA Nov 10th - 12th. I raised a total of over $1900 throught family, friends and fellow scrappers. Unfortunately the day before I was supposed to leave for San Diego I came down with the worst flu I have ever had! At first I thought it was nerves but as the day wore on, the multiple trips to the bathroom, the aching in my body and the 102 temperature I realized I have the flu! I was the worst day! At first the thought didn't cross my mind that I probably should not go until my husband got home and he saw how awful I looked.
We talked it over and agreed that the best thing for my safety and health was to not fly to San Diego. Not only did my body ache but my heart ached! It ached for all the people who had donated to my cause! My friends Bev, Donna, Michelle and Carol threw me a surprise "Pink Party" that Monday before I was supposed to leave. I thought how could I let them down. My friend Lynn at work organized a decorating frenzy of my office and bought a cake that they were going to give me the day before I left. How could I let them down.
The one positive thing that came out of all this is the fact that you know who your friends are and you know who your family is. Everyone was very supportive of me, they understood and felt sorry at the fact that I couldn't make my trip becuase they all knew how much I was looking forward to participating. I had told everyone that this was something that was definately out of my comfort zone for me. Asking people for money is my biggest fear because I hate rejection!
Well anyway, to make a long story short..........I've signed up again! This year I am going to make it San Diego! I will walk the 20 (+ or -) miles each day for three days! Hence the start of this blog!
I hope you enjoy the updates as the days, weeks and months go by!
Take care - Karin
